Children’s dentist in Palamós
We look after little ones’ teeth with patience, in a setting they can trust.
We want first visits to the dentist to be calm and positive, so that children grow up without fear and with good habits for caring for their teeth.
Why is the first visit important?
Baby teeth matter: they help children chew and speak well, and they keep the space for the permanent teeth. Decay in a baby tooth can also hurt and become infected.
Regular check-ups help detect decay, bite problems or habits such as thumb-sucking early, and teach children and parents how to care for teeth at home.
When should children see the dentist?
We recommend a first visit when the first teeth appear or around the first birthday, followed by regular check-ups. Also come and see us if:
- You notice white or brown spots, or holes, in the teeth.
- Your child complains of pain when eating or drinking something cold or sweet.
- They have had a knock to the mouth or broken a tooth.
- The teeth are coming through crooked or the bite does not seem to fit.

At what age should a child first see the dentist?
Around the first birthday or when the first teeth appear. The sooner they get used to it, the easier it will be.
Should decay in baby teeth be treated?
Yes. It can hurt, become infected and affect the permanent tooth underneath. Baby teeth also keep the space for the permanent ones.
What are fissure sealants?
A thin coating applied to the grooves of the back teeth to stop food and plaque collecting there and causing decay. It is quick and painless.
What should I do if a tooth breaks after a knock?
Call us as soon as possible. If a permanent tooth has come out whole, keep it in cold milk, skimmed if possible, and come straight away.
